Learning to exercise is not something that comes naturally. It is something that is learned.

We take pride in offering training from beginner up to the competitive level

Beginner Level

This level is for anyone who has never been trained in exercise movements.

A goal here at AFC is to see all of our patients add strength and cardio training into their routine.

The biggest barrier to that, is confidence! You can't walk into a weight room and "fake it till you make it." That leads to injury and the end to a potentially great habit. Same goes for home workouts, we could tell you too many stories of home workout injuries, that all claimed ot be safe and easy.

The key is training! Good form is something that is practiced. It is knowing what muscle you should feel turn on first, how to hold your low back, what a bad lift feels like and how to use your breath during different phases of the lift.

With proper training you can gain the confidence to know what lifts will benefit you, what each movement feels like when done correctly and what movements require better range of motion and how to gain that before performing the lift.

Trust us to help you gain the condifence to walk into a gym, yoga studio or even your own living room and do a workout pain and injury free.

Students

Is your student in weights class but you are noticing frequent injuries or pain?

When entering into weighted exercises it is important to have flawless fundamentals.

If we have pain while lunging, we don't have enough trunk and hip stability to add weight.

If squats cause pain, we might be lacking ankle flexibility or be putting too much weight in our toes and quads.

Weights class in school does not have enough one-on-one instruction to overcome these problems, but we do!

Countless students have entered our office due to pain in weights class, others come in with pain during a sport. In both cases, we perform a Functional Movement Screen to identify missing range of motion or asymmetry from side to side.

Our goal is to modify the movement (for now) to prevent injury, prescribe rehab exercises which restore symmetry and full range of motion, and lastly teach how that movement should be performed. This leads to a safe workout, increased strength gains and sport improvement.

Athletes

This includes anyone who is a weekend warrior or into competitive lifting.

When we have been doing a lift for years and we start to experience pain, it can be very frustrating.

Our muscle memory knows how to accomplish the movement, but when we start experiencing pain, we doubt what we are doing.

If you have had an injury, notice you don't have full range of motion or a new issue has been sticking around too long, this is for you!

Firstly, adjustments and soft tissue work help to relieve pain and help heal any tissue damage.

After the pain is decreased or gone, it's time to investigate why the injury happened.

Let us use our Functional Movement Screen to check full body for range of motion issues, pain or asymmetry. This usually shows issues you haven't noticed.

Next we can use rehab exercises to help improve these areas. At the same time, we will go through your lifts and check that you are bracing correctly, activating the correct muscle first, achieving full range of motion and add any modification to make the lift safe again.

This helps restore your confidence and gets you back to your activity with small achievable steps that help you feel the progress.

Regardless of what level you find yourself at, going back to the basics HELPS!

Let us go over your movements with a fin tooth comb and find where the issue is, or add the knowledge to feel confident in all movement.

Our Functional Training visits are 30 minutes.

The first visit will go over the complaint or the reason for your visit.

You will then go through a FMS screen, which will highlight pain, asymmetry, range of motion issues and balance. Next our trainer will go over these results with you, giving you info to use our app that has rehab exercises for your specific findings. After your evaluation you will start movement specific work to help you work towards your goal.

Our trainers are strong! They use this info on a daily basis and can correctly teach you to do the same.

We offer packages that include 4 visits or you can book one by one. Either way, we look forward to working with you to create a strength and stability that injuries can't touch.
